March 16th has been declared as No Selfies Day.
Every day millions of cell phone owners take a cheezy, blurry and self aggrandizing portrait using their cell phone’s cameras and then plaster these pictures on social networks for all of creation to see. No one really knows how this started or the reasons why. May 16th is a day set aside where nobody should take a “selfie.”
No Selfies Day is observed on the birthday of Philippe Kahn, the man who invented the cell phone camera. Kahn was also the first person known to send such a photo: a photo from the birth of his daughter taken in 1997 with his cell phone.
