Few artists are as instantly as interesting as Maurits Cornelis “M. C.” Escher.

Escher was a Dutch graphic artist known for his mathematically inspired woodcuts, lithographs, and mezzotints. His artistic vision features nearly impossible constructions, explorations of infinity, architecture, and tessellations which delight both young and old alike. His notable work includes Relativity, Waterfall, and Hand with Reflecting Sphere.

Here are many of Escher’s most outstanding works, as brought to life through clever animation.
